JupyterHub at CERIT-SC provides researchers and scientists with instant, browser-based access to interactive computing environments (JupyterLab, RStudio, MATLAB, and VS Code) backed by high-performance CPU and GPU resources.

To accelerate your research, our platform features built-in, on-premise Generative AI assistants (Jupyter AI, Claude Code, and Posit Assistant). Because our Large Language Models (LLMs) run entirely on CERIT-SC infrastructure, your unpublished research data, sensitive datasets, and proprietary code never leave our servers.

To access JupyterHub, you must have an active MetaCentrum account.

1. Quick Launch: Click My Server to start a default environment immediately.
2. Custom Launch (Recommended): To run multiple environments or customize your setup, click + New Server, enter a short, descriptive name for your server (up to 30 characters), and click Add Server to configure your instance.

You can run up to 15 servers at the same time (the hub home page shows your current count). Each stopped server card also has a Quick Start button that relaunches it with its last configuration without going through the full form.

When spawning a new server, you will configure three main components: your Software Image, Storage, and Hardware Resources. The following pages walk you through each task:

• Start a Server — pick the right software image, storage, and CPU/RAM/GPU resources for your workload.
• Manage Servers — stop, delete, and add servers, and share a live notebook with collaborators.
• AI Assistants — use Jupyter AI, Claude Code, and Posit Assistant on our on-premise LLM infrastructure.
• Custom Environments — create persistent conda environments and build your own Docker images.
• SSH Access — connect to your notebook with local VS Code or PyCharm over SSH.
• Expose a Web App — give your Streamlit / Dash / Gradio app a public URL.
